A Proposal on Equity Pooling for Search Fund Entrepreneurs

Peter Bransden, Raam S. Jani, Mark Agnew, A. J. Wasserstein. (2023)

Yale Case, no number printed, April 30, 2023

Proposes that cohorts of about ten searchers each commit 20% of earned equity to a shared pool. All numbers are from a hypothetical ten-person model ("the ten participants created $27.8 million of net equity value", "each cohort member would receive almost $600,000", p4) built to "loosely" mirror Stanford 2022 outcomes excluding the top five. The authors call it "inchoate" and answer seven design questions with "We are not sure."
